Yeah, things have not gotten better on the sleep front. I am still alive, and I did finally manage to get some real sleep last night, but…

It’s roughly four in the afternoon, and I’m just getting started for the day.

Grrrr.

Oh, and did I mention that I have a mild headache? It’s one of those ones that makes you want to go back to sleep just so it will go away. Go figure.

But back to business, rather than continuing to inspire an urge for a good cheese to go with my whine…

I’m shifting priorities a bit this week. I’ve come to the conclusion that this business is very likely to happen, and even if it ends up not happening, I have at least one alternative business idea. I need to start thinking about getting the structure in place so it can actually be a business, rather than some guy just playing at it.

This defines my goals for the week:

• Find a name for the business
• Determine the business structure, and answer any outstanding questions about it (eg. tax questions, permit questions (eg. resale permits), etc.)
• Get the business registered.

I have done some research, and from what I understand my current state (Texas) is actually a pretty business-friendly environment, and makes all this reasonably easy. I just need to make decisions and get it all set up, and I’m off to the races.

And I desperately need a name for both the business and the product, which is turning out to be the most difficult part. Everything else I at least have an idea of how to accomplish, but naming this thing?

Yeah, I’m clueless.

I’m still going for the 90-day assessment; I’m just front-loading some of the actual work, since it will likely still be useful even if I decide to kill the product and not go forward. The chances of that scenario occurring, however, are shrinking by the day, so it’s almost certainly not going to get killed off.

And this way I should be able to start collecting receipts so I can write off my expenses if I make any money this year… Or so I hope.

So that’s what I’ll be doing when I finally get spun up today. I’m… annoyed that I’m starting halfway through the day, but such is the story of my life.

I’ve spent the last however many hours more or less verifying what I know about business structures, and learning how to actually set them up. It’s very dry reading. Useful, though.

There are, however, some things that are apparently hard to find, like tax information for my particular locale. Blah.

I need to get up and wander a bit; even Nibble is trying to get me to do something else for a while. He’s pretty adamant. I think he’s about to start nibbling on my ear.

At least he’s letting me type, though, for the moment.

In any event, I think I’m going to go for a drive and try to find some inspiration on names. That’s still the sticking point. Can’t register a business if you don’t know what you’re going to call it.

Only an insomniac introvert goes for a drive at this time of night, I’d wager, but whatever. I can, so I will!

Ugh. I give up. Names are hard to think up, and all the good ones are taken.

Going to try to get some sleep and see if I manage to get up at a decent hour tomorrow.
